Preparation for our bus pass pilgrimage

This is our beautiful St. Edburg's Church.

St. Edburg's is over 900 years old and is in need of major re - ordering. We are in the midst of attempting to raise 1 million pounds to enable the work to be done.
A few intrepid senior members of our congregation, with their bus passes, are attempting to travel the old pilgrim way from Canterbury to York by local buses. They will be sponsored for it and hope to raise quite a lot of money as well as having some fun and fellowship together.
A lot of work has gone into arranging the route and we are now on to the last stage of arranging hosts for the evenings in the towns we go through. Colin Cockshaw has contacts in most places and he hopes that the church members of these towns will oblige us with bed & breakfast. If not it may mean sleeping in the local hostelry!!!
Great fun was had at our last meeting, so if this mood keeps up it will be most enjoyable.
We have to make our own way to Canterbury and back from York, and this may incur some cost for us, but we are prepared for this. Hopefully the rest of the journey will be cost free.
For those who would like to know the route here it is.
Sunday 19th April, after church we travel to london and the coach to Canterbury.
Monday 20th. Canterbury to St. Albans. This will be a long day as we will be skirting around London and it involves about 9 buses!! (hope they will be on time!)
Tuesday 21st. St. Albans to Bedford, this will be on 2 buses.
Wednesday 22nd. Bedford to Nottingham, 4 buses this time.
Thursday 23rd. Nottingham to York, again 4 buses.
We will be met by the Dean of York Minster and will attend evensong in the Minster.

Sponsor forms will be available soon, so look out for more information on this.
